Meet Annastasia
Annastasia came to us because she was uncomfortable with the stains on her teeth and the appearance of previous dental bonding. Unfortunately, we were not the first dentist she visited. Another dentist discouraged her about the health of her teeth, and this made her fear she might not be able to get the smile she wanted. This was a shame because Annastasia is a beautiful person inside and out, with a naturally wide smile that she deserves to be able to display.
Discussing Smile Options
During her first brief visit to Firouzian Dentistry, we took digital pictures of Annastasia’s smile. This let her see her smile up close, and she could point out what she liked and disliked about her smile to Dr. Mike. Dr. Mike saw the potential he had and laid out a basic plan for her new smile, which made Annastasia excited to get started.
Records and Planning
The next visit was a more detailed planning session. In this session, we took initial pictures of her smile. We used digital smile design to plan her procedure and give her a preview of what her results might look like. The plan was to place ten porcelain veneers, and Annastasia loved the result that would give her.
However, there was also another piece of serious business to take care of. We wanted to ensure Annastasia had no temporomandibular joint disorders (TMJ or TMD). These disorders can significantly reduce the lifespan of cosmetic dentistry, so we make sure our patients have a healthy bite before we start. We call it our “Function First and Beauty to Finish” approach. We used CT scans to screen Annastasia for TMD. She had no bite problems, so we proceeded to treatment.
Preparation
To ensure the best fit of Annastasia’s porcelain veneers, we would have to remove a small amount of her natural enamel to create space. This is an irreversible process, so before we went forward, we gave Annastasia one last chance to approve the design finalized by the dental lab: a physical model of her final smile. Annastasia loved the look of the final smile design, so we proceeded.
Annastasia chose to use NuCalm relaxation dentistry to be calm and comfortable through the preparation procedure. At the same time, Dr. Mike contoured Annastasia’s gums to complement the veneers perfectly.

Final Results
Dr. Mike gave Annastasia one checkup between the preparation of her teeth and the placement of veneers. He wanted to check her bite without anesthesia or sedation. This showed that her bite was healthy and ideal for long-lasting veneers.
Then, at her next visit Dr. Mike inspected and placed the veneers. Annastasia got to look at them in place. When he was sure she loved them, Dr. Mike bonded the veneers in place. Annastasia loves her new smile, which brightens our office every time she visits for routine checkups.
