Advancements in dentistry have made it more comfortable, more convenient, and capable of more procedures than ever before.
At Firouzian Dentistry in Columbus, Dr. Mike Firouzian has assembled a powerful array of dental technology to help him provide the best service to his patients. He has not chosen these technologies simply because they’re new and shiny. He’s brought them together because he knows they will help his patients have a better experience and enjoy better results than ever. Here are some of the technologies you will benefit from when you choose dental treatment at our Columbus dental office.
Digital Scanners, X-Rays, and Cameras
Digital technologies make it easier for us to collect and share information about your teeth.
Digital scanners mean that you won’t have to bite into goo-filled impression trays when you get cosmetic or restorative dentistry at Firouzian Dentistry. Instead, we wave a wand over your teeth to collect 3D images that we can use to design restorations and other appliances.
Digital X-rays and cameras also let us collect images of your teeth. Digital X-rays are not only easier to share with you, but they also expose you to less radiation. Digital cameras make it easy for us to take pictures of your teeth so you can see what we see to make more informed decisions about your dental care.
CEREC and 3D Printing
In the past, we had to send away to labs for dental restorations, whitening trays, and other appliances. However, now we can use the digital images from our scanners to make these in our office. Now you can get dental crowns in one day–no need to make a second appointment to get restorative dentistry. We can also make custom teeth whitening trays in our office so you can start your whitening treatment faster so you can enjoy a brighter smile sooner.
We can even print orthodontic aligners to fine-tune orthodontic treatments to ensure you get the straight smile you’ve been dreaming of.
Dental Lasers
Dental lasers can make many dental procedures easier, faster, and more comfortable. Lasers work quickly and are more precise than blades or drills. Treatment with lasers can cause less pain, less bleeding, and can sterilize the treatment area to protect against infection.
We have dental lasers that can treat gum disease and reshape gum tissue. In addition, hard tissue lasers can help us remove decayed and damaged tooth structures.
T-Scan Bite Analysis System
T-Scan is a system that shows us how much force you bite down with at every point in your mouth. It registers bite force in real time, showing how bite forces increase dynamically. This helps us ensure that your new restorations fit properly and don’t cause a bite imbalance that can damage your restorations or your teeth. It also lets us make sure that your bite is healthy and won’t lead to the development of bite problems like temporomandibular joint disorders (TMJ).
Digital Implant Process
Dental implants are the tooth replacement most like your natural teeth. They can let you bite and chew normally, look natural, and can last a lifetime. But they depend on accurate placement to give these results. The digital dental implant placement process we use at Firouzian Dentistry helps ensure maximum accuracy.
It starts with cone beam CT (CBCT) scans. This form of 3D digital X-rays lets us accurately determine the amount and quality of bone in your jaw. Knowing this helps us plan precise placement for your implants and predict whether you need a bone graft to support your implants. The CBCT data feeds into our nSequence-guided implant surgery system. nSequence data makes your dental implant procedure faster. It also helps improve the stability of your implants and reduces the risk of implant failure.
NuCalm
Many people feel dental anxiety. Sedation dentistry can help you overcome anxiety for a more comfortable dental treatment. However, at Firouzian Dentistry, we also have a more natural way to deal with dental anxiety. NuCalm is not a drug treatment. It uses your brain’s natural mechanisms to control your anxiety. You’ll slip into a relaxed state, like drifting at the edge of sleep. Instead of worrying, you’ll be rested and refreshed.
Perio Protect
Gum disease is the leading cause of tooth loss among adults. Not only that, but gum disease is linked to a host of serious health conditions. It affects about half of adults and becomes more common as we get older. Gum disease affects about three-quarters of people over age 65.
For many people, brushing and flossing are enough to control gum disease. However, some people need additional help. Perio Protect uses customized trays like teeth whitening trays to deliver gum disease medication. This effectively stops periodontitis to protect your teeth–and your health.
Tracking Jaw Motion and Muscle Activity
TMJ can be notoriously difficult to diagnose and treat. Many people with TMJ symptoms spend years trying to figure out what’s causing headaches, jaw pain, neck pain, vertigo, ringing in the ears, and more. Doctors don’t know much about TMJ and may not even believe your symptoms are real.
However, TMJ dentist Dr. Mike Firouzian has spent decades helping people get relief from these symptoms. He utilizes an advanced suite of technology to help him accurately diagnose and treat TMJs.
Dr. Mike has tools to listen to the jaw joints for sounds of dysfunction and can measure the activity of the jaw muscles to see if they show dysfunctional stress. We have multiple tools to measure your jaw motion. This includes computerized tracking, 3D imaging, and motion capture technology to show whether the jaw motions are healthy or dysfunctional.
Air Purification
The mouth is a potential source of contamination and infection. Dental treatments can sometimes send droplets and particles into the air. At Firouzian Dentistry, we use two powerful technologies to ensure the air at our office is as clean as possible. Surgically Clean Air uses a multi-stage filtration process to clean large volumes of air, so our office air is cleaned frequently. The EOS Extraoral Dental Suction System pulls in the air in the treatment rooms, filtering particles, droplets, bacteria, and viruses out of the air.
This protects people from potential infection.
