That may be the case for some dentists you may visit, but in our office you will get the most modern procedures available. We guarantee that if you’ve never been in our office before you’ll feel like you’re traveling forward in time, not backward.
No More Numb Cheeks
Dental anesthesia was, for generations an imprecise art. Your dentist would inject you, walk away, come back and ask if you’re numb yet. They poke and prod until you register pain, then inject you some more and walk away again. In the end, sure your tooth is numb, but so is your tongue, lips, and your cheek.
But it doesn’t have to be that way. With the Wand, Single Tooth Anesthesia is a reality. We can use the computerized anesthesia system to deliver a precise dose to just one tooth so you can be numbed for your procedure, but still be able to talk, eat, and drink after you leave our office.
No Drills Required
It’s possible that someone might argue that the mere use of a dental drill harkens back to that neolithic dentist, using the same small bow drill that might have been used to make beads from the knucklebones and claws of sabretooth cats. But at our office, we’re moving completely beyond drills.
We utilize WaterLase, a sophisticated new approach to removing dental enamel that uses a combination of laser energy, cooling water, and a spray of air to prepare your tooth to receive dental restorations. There’s no whirring drill, no grinding against your teeth, no pressure, just a smooth, cool cut.
One of the most amazing technologies most people don’t know about before they visit our office is CEREC. CEREC is a computer-aided design/computer aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) system that allows us to take a digital scan of your teeth, plan a restoration on the computer, then have a robotic system carve the restoration while you wait. Not only is it comfortable–there’s no messy impression compound, not even any scanner powder–and convenient–no need for a second visit–it’s highly cosmetic. Dr. Firouzian can tweak the colors of the restoration more than he can with ones from a lab, so CEREC restorations have the best color match we’ve seen.
Another modern technology you’ll find in our office is Invisalign. The technology of wire braces is about 200 years old, but Invisalign is a new approach to straightening your teeth. Using the same scanner on our CEREC machine, we can use a computer program to plan out your entire orthodontic course. The computer will then produce clear plastic aligners that you use to straighten your teeth.
Your Dentist Makes the Difference
Going to the dentist can be like going back in time, or it can be like living in the future, today. You may not have a jetpack to fly to work or even a self-driving car, but you can have your crown made for you by a computer, have your tooth worked on by laser, and get your teeth straightened as if by magic.
